About this spectacle

Standing at Tunnel View, the entire sweep of Yosemite Valley opens before you in one breathtaking frame. El Capitan rises sheer on the left, Half Dome anchors the middle distance, and Bridalveil Fall threads down the right canyon wall in a silver ribbon. The air carries pine and granite dust, and in early morning the valley often fills with low mist that slowly burns off as the sun climbs, transforming the scene with every passing minute. Light paints the granite walls gold at sunrise and deep amber at sunset. In spring, snowmelt swells Bridalveil Fall to its fullest. In winter, fresh snow dusts the valley rim and clouds roll dramatically through the gap. It is the single most photographed viewpoint in the park — a wide, paved pullout that distills Yosemite's grandeur into one cinematic panorama accessible to virtually any visitor.
