Tinuy-an Falls — Philippines
The 'Niagara of the Philippines' — a sweeping, multi-tiered waterfall draped across a vast basalt ledge deep in Surigao del Sur's rainforest.
About this spectacle
Tinuy-an Falls is often called the 'Niagara of the Philippines' for its extraordinary width — a broad curtain of white water tumbling in multiple tiers across a dramatically wide basalt ledge surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. Visitors approach through dense jungle, hearing the roar before the falls come into view. Up close, the mist is constant and cooling, a welcome contrast to the tropical heat. Shallow pools at the base invite wading, and bamboo rafts are traditionally used to navigate closer to the cascading curtain. The surrounding canopy teems with birdlife and the vegetation is intensely green year-round. The visual scale — wide, layered, and framed by forest — makes it one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Southeast Asia, rivalling far more famous counterparts in raw spectacle.
