At Tiger Beach, a shallow sand-bottom dive site on the Little Bahama Bank, visitors descend into 10–15 metres of crystalline water where the white sand floor acts as a natural reflector, flooding the scene with light. Here, tiger sharks — some stretching to 3 metres or more, their juvenile vertical striping still vivid — circle slowly at arm's reach, unhurried and inquisitive. Operators have built relationships with over 40 individually named sharks that return annually, meaning encounters feel less like wildlife chance and more like a meeting of old acquaintances. Sharks investigate camera ports, glide within touching distance, and bank lazily overhead against a brilliant blue water column. The shallow depth gives divers extended bottom time, maximising the encounter. The combination of perfect visibility, ambient light bouncing off white sand, and the unhurried behaviour of the animals makes every dive feel like a private session inside a world-class aquarium — except the subjects weigh hundreds of kilograms and are entirely wild.
