About this spectacle

Schwabacher Landing is a beloved riverside pullout along the Snake River in Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Visitors descend a short path to a series of beaver ponds and a wide gravel bar where the still water reflects the jagged Teton Range in striking detail. At dawn, the peaks glow pink and orange above mist-draped water while moose, great blue herons, and sandhill cranes often move through the willows. The air carries the clean scent of sage and cottonwood. Photographers set up tripods along the bank in near-silence broken only by birdsong and the gentle current. The Tetons rise dramatically just to the west, giving the scene extraordinary depth. In autumn, golden cottonwood foliage lines the river corridor and deepens the reflection palette. Even midday visits reward with panoramic views of the entire Teton crest.
