Race Point Seal Haul Out

About this spectacle

At Race Point Beach on the outermost tip of Cape Cod, grey and harbor seals haul themselves onto the sand in impressive numbers, especially during the cooler months. Visitors standing at the shoreline or on the dunes can watch dozens — sometimes hundreds — of seals resting, jostling for position, and slipping in and out of the surf. The Atlantic wind is constant and briny, and the sound of barking and splashing carries across the open beach. The landscape itself is dramatic: wide skies, rolling dunes, and the powerful open ocean. Seals are visible from the beach without any special equipment, making this an accessible and genuinely rewarding wildlife encounter.
