Quirl

About this spectacle

The Quirl is a striking rocky outcrop rising above the forested Elbe Sandstone Mountains of Saxony, Germany, near the town of Rathen in Saxon Switzerland. Visitors who make the climb are rewarded with panoramic views across a dramatic landscape of sandstone pinnacles, deep gorges, and dense forest canopy stretching toward the Czech border. The path winds through characteristic Saxon Switzerland scenery — moss-covered boulders, gnarled pines, and exposed sandstone ledges worn smooth by centuries of weather.
