About this spectacle

Nordkapp stands as one of Europe's northernmost accessible points, a dramatic basalt cliff rising nearly 307 metres above the Arctic Ocean. In summer, visitors witness the Midnight Sun — a full solar disc hovering above the horizon at midnight, casting long amber light across the sea. In the dark polar winter, the Northern Lights sweep overhead in waves of green, violet, and white. The landscape is austere and windswept, with little vegetation; the sensation of standing at the edge of a continent under an infinite arctic sky is visceral and humbling. Biting winds are constant, and the platform offers panoramic 180-degree ocean views. The combination of celestial events — both Midnight Sun and aurora — makes this one of the most dramatic sky-watching destinations in the world.
