Nohsngithiang Falls — India
One of India's tallest and most spectacular waterfalls, Nohsngithiang plunges in seven segmented streams down a vast cliff face in the mist-drenched Meghalaya highlands.
About this spectacle
Nohsngithiang Falls, also known as the Seven Sisters Falls, is one of India's most dramatic waterfalls, plunging in seven distinct segmented streams down a sheer green cliff face in the Meghalaya highlands. During the monsoon season, the full breadth of the falls roars with extraordinary force, creating a veil of mist and thunder that envelops the valley below. Visitors stand on viewpoints across the gorge watching the white cascades contrast against the lush tropical forest and moss-draped rock walls. The sound is immersive — a constant deep rumble punctuated by the rush of individual streams merging into the river below. Outside peak monsoon, some streams thin or disappear, making timing critical. The surrounding landscape of rolling green hills, low clouds, and dense vegetation gives the scene an atmosphere of raw, untouched wildness that is rare in South Asia.
