The boreal twilight is long and gold, painting still water between pine-fringed shores a deep amber while silhouettes of feeding moose anchor the frame. In May and June, cows appear with newborn calves whose comically elongated legs and wide-eyed expressions add a different quality of wonder to the encounter.
