Margoon Waterfall is one of Iran's most impressive natural water features, plunging dramatically through a forested canyon in Fars Province. Visitors approach along a path that winds through oak and plane trees, with the roar of falling water growing louder before the cascade comes into full view — a wide, multi-tiered curtain of white water crashing into a pool below. The spray creates a cool microclimate that feels striking against the surrounding arid landscape of central Iran. In spring, snowmelt swells the flow to its most powerful, and wildflowers line the banks. The surrounding Zagros foothills frame the waterfall with rugged limestone cliffs, making it a visually dramatic destination. Early morning light catches the mist, and the relative quiet of the gorge amplifies the sensory experience of rushing water and birdsong.
