Kent Falls
Connecticut's most dramatic cascade — a tiered waterfall series that roars with spring snowmelt and glows with autumn colour.
About this spectacle
Kent Falls is a cascading waterfall series tucked within Kent Falls State Park in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut. Visitors follow a well-maintained trail that winds alongside a series of tiered drops, the largest of which plunges roughly in a single curtain before breaking into smaller cascades over mossy ledges. The sound builds as you climb — a constant white-noise rush punctuated by the crack of water striking rock. In spring, snowmelt amplifies the flow dramatically, turning the falls into a roaring spectacle. Autumn brings fiery foliage framing the white water, while winter can coat the rocks in dramatic ice formations. The climb rewards with layered views at multiple vantage points. The park is a manageable day trip from Hartford or New Haven, making it one of Connecticut's most accessible and photogenic waterfall destinations.
