Hebbe Falls — India
A two-tiered waterfall hidden inside a wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka's Western Ghats, reached through coffee plantations and jungle trails.
About this spectacle
Hebbe Falls is a two-tiered waterfall tucked deep within the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Visitors descend through dense, misty coffee and cardamom plantations before the falls reveal themselves in a dramatic cascade — the upper fall known as Dodda Hebbe and the lower as Chikka Hebbe. The air is cool and heavy with moisture, the surrounding forest alive with birdsong, and the roar of water grows steadily louder as you approach along jungle trails. The falls plunge into a pool framed by mossy boulders and thick canopy, making the arrival feel genuinely earned. The peak experience comes during and just after the monsoon, when flow is at its most powerful and the greenery is intensely saturated. Outside that window, the falls are calmer but the forest remains atmospheric and wildlife sightings are possible on the approach.
