Fall Creek Falls State Park in Tennessee is home to one of the highest waterfalls east of the Rocky Mountains, where the main cascade plunges over a dramatic sandstone gorge into a pool far below. Visitors hear the roar well before they see the falls, and the mist carries through the surrounding hardwood forest, catching light in the late morning. The gorge also shelters several additional cascades — Piney Falls, Cane Creek Falls, and Cane Creek Cascades — creating a network of water features through a heavily wooded plateau landscape. Autumn transforms the scene when peak fall color frames the whitewater in vivid oranges, reds, and yellows. A suspension bridge and multiple overlooks provide elevated vantage points over the main plunge pool. The forest floor and creek banks are rich with ferns and mosses, adding layers of green texture even outside the color season.
