About this spectacle

Bushkill Falls, tucked into the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, draws visitors with a series of cascading waterfalls tumbling through a forested gorge. The main falls drop dramatically over dark shale ledges, framed by hemlocks and hardwoods that shift from vivid green in summer to blazing gold and red in autumn. A network of hiking trails and wooden bridges winds through the gorge, allowing visitors to approach the falls from multiple vantage points and hear the constant roar of water echoing off mossy rock walls. Mist rises from the base of the main cascade, cooling the air on warm days. Secondary falls along the tributary trails offer quieter, more intimate moments away from the main viewpoint. The surrounding second-growth forest shelters songbirds and woodland wildlife. The experience is immersive and sensory — the smell of wet stone and leaf litter, the sound of rushing water layered with birdsong, and the visual drama of white water against dark rock walls.
