About this spectacle

Brasstown Bald rises as Georgia's highest peak, offering sweeping 360-degree panoramic views from its summit observation deck. On clear days visitors scan across the forested ridges of the Blue Ridge Mountains into four states: Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina. The approach winds through hardwood and conifer forest, with the final push either on foot up a steep paved trail or via a seasonal shuttle. Autumn transforms the surrounding slopes into a mosaic of amber, crimson, and gold, while spring brings wildflowers along the lower trails. The summit sits above the treeline, exposed and breezy, and the interpretive center inside the tower provides context on the Appalachian ecology. On rare clear winter days, distant ridges appear in sharp relief against a pale sky.
