About this spectacle

Basaseachic Falls plunges dramatically into a rugged canyon in the Sierra Madre Occidental of Chihuahua, making it one of Mexico's most impressive single-drop waterfalls. Visitors standing at the canyon rim feel the roar of water long before they see it — a thunderous white ribbon disappearing into mist below. The surrounding pine-oak forest cloaks the ridgelines, and condors and eagles may be spotted riding thermals above the gorge. Trails descend toward the canyon floor, offering shifting perspectives: from the broad panorama at the top to the spray-soaked base where the falls crash into a turquoise pool. The wet season intensifies the flow to a breathtaking torrent, while drier months reveal the full height of the rock face. The canyon walls glow amber and ochre in low morning light, making dawn visits especially rewarding for photographers.
