Aberdeen Falls — Sri Lanka
A dramatic highland waterfall in Sri Lanka's Central Province, plunging into a lush jungle gorge amid mist and birdsong.
About this spectacle
Aberdeen Falls is one of Sri Lanka's most impressive waterfalls, plunging into a deep jungle gorge in the Central Province highlands. Visitors are greeted by the roar of cascading water before catching the first glimpse through dense tropical foliage. The falls tumble dramatically, sending up a fine mist that cools the surrounding forest and catches the light in shimmering arcs. Lush greenery frames every view, with ferns and mosses clinging to the wet rock face. The air is heavy with humidity and the sound of birdsong competes with the thunder of the water. A sense of remoteness pervades the site, even as it remains one of the more visited highland attractions in the region. Mist often hangs in the valley below, creating an ethereal atmosphere, particularly in the morning hours.
